In an alternate, parallel universe, I’m just finishing a glorious twenty-year soccer career that included clubs in the USL-1, the MLS, the Coca-Cola Championship–on loan, mind you–and the English Premiership…before coming back to the US and finishing in the MLS. I may have even scored in the UEFA Cup Final, but was erroneously flagged for offsides. I undoubtedly starred in an instructional soccer DVD for kids with USWNT defender Heather Mitts. (Nobody paid any attention to me). Maybe I get to do color commentary during World Cup qualifiers.

In this universe, however, I design healthcare facilities and live vicariously through the U9 soccer adventures of my daughter, who will be WAY better than I ever was.

Oh, and in the parallel universe, I still have a full head of hair.
